Introduction
By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy. This policy applies to the HorseMorse mobile app and related services.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we may receive your name, email address, and account identifier. We use this information to create and manage your account and sync your data.
Location data
HorseMorse uses your location to detect trips, start and stop tracking, calculate distances, and support background trip recording. If you allow background location access, the app may collect location data while you are driving or when trip tracking is active. You can disable location permissions in your device settings at any time, but some app features may stop working.
Trip and vehicle data
We store trip records, route data, trip distance, timestamps, car information, consumption data, and fuel-related records that you enter or that the app generates. This data is used to show dashboards, monthly summaries, route history, and fuel analytics.
Fuel and usage data
If you add fuel logs or use fuel reports, we store values such as liters, amount, fuel type, notes, and related trip references. We may also store daily fuel summary data generated from your usage.
Push notification data
If you enable notifications, we may store your push token, timezone, and notification preferences so we can send reminders and daily updates.
Subscription and entitlement data
We may store and receive information about your Pro subscription status through our billing and entitlement provider to determine feature access.
Device and diagnostic data
We may collect crash data, performance data, and other diagnostic information to help us improve stability and fix issues. We may also collect basic device or app usage information needed for functionality and troubleshooting.
Advertising data
Free users may see ads. If ad personalization is enabled on your device, advertising partners may use identifiers and related signals to deliver or measure ads.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- create and manage your account
- authenticate you through Google or Apple sign-in
- detect, record, and display trips
- calculate trip distance, fuel usage, and monthly summaries
- store and sync cars, logs, and reports
- send push notifications such as daily reminders
- show ads to free users
- provide Pro access and manage subscriptions
- improve app performance and fix bugs
- maintain safety, prevent misuse, and support customer requests
3. How We Share Information
We may share information with service providers and third parties that help us operate the app, including Supabase for authentication, database storage, and backend services; Google services, including maps and advertising-related services; Apple services, including Sign in with Apple and platform features; RevenueCat or a similar subscription provider for purchase and entitlement management; Sentry for crash reporting and diagnostics; and Expo and notification infrastructure for push notification delivery.
These providers process data only as needed to provide their services, subject to their own privacy terms and our configuration. We do not intentionally sell your personal information in the ordinary sense of the word. However, some advertising or analytics partners may process data for ad delivery, measurement, or app functionality.
4. Location Data
- Location is a core part of HorseMorse.
- We use location data to detect trips and calculate driving history.
- Background location access may be used when trip tracking is active.
- If you do not grant location permissions, trip detection and related features may not work correctly.
- You can disable location access anytime in system settings.
5. Ads and Tracking
- HorseMorse may display ads, especially for free users.
- Ad networks may collect or receive device identifiers, approximate location, and usage signals depending on your device settings and permissions.
- On iOS, if required, tracking consent may be requested before personalized ads are shown.
- You can still use the app with limited or modified ad behavior depending on platform settings and app rules.
6. Data Retention
We keep your data for as long as necessary to provide the app and related features. Trip, fuel, car, and account data may be retained while your account is active. Some records may remain after you reset summaries, because reset does not delete historical data. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data where reasonably possible, except where retention is required for legal, security, or legitimate business purposes.
7. Your Choices
You can control certain information through your device or account settings:
- change or revoke location permissions
- disable notifications
- manage ad personalization settings on your device
- delete fuel or trip data where the app provides that option
- request account deletion
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children’s Privacy
HorseMorse is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us so we can remove it.
10. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including by cloud and service providers that support our app. These providers may have different data protection laws than your country.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated version in the app or through another appropriate method.
